The Petition to Demand a Full
Environmental Impact Report

To: The Mayors and City Council members and candidates of Pasadena and La Cañada Flintridge

Hahamongna Watershed Park, at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains in the Arroyo Seco, is a rare and rich water resource and natural habitat zone that is our region's most special environmental treasure.

The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works has announced a plan to remove massive amounts of sediment and habitat from behind Devil's Gate Dam that will have enormous impacts on the nature of Hahamongna and on the local neighborhoods of Pasadena, Altadena and La Cañada Flintridge.

The County intends to begin the program this September without conducting a full environmental review as required by California law for such programs. They currently intend to rely on an emergency declaration, which will curtail city and stakeholder involvement and the consideration of more environmentally responsible alternatives.

We, the undersigned, urge the Mayors and City Council members and candidates of Pasadena and La Cañada Flintridge to take decisive action to insist that the County of Los Angeles prepare a full Environmental Impact Report for the Hahamongna sediment management program and to chose the most sustainable and environmentally sensitive alternative.
