FAQ: What is the Flood Threat?

Unbelievably the County does not identify or document the flood threat in their Draft EIR. There is a map that illustrates areas where there maybe a flood channel capacity problem in the event of a fifty year flood, but it doesn't indicate what the flooding effects are likely to be in the deficient areas or what steps they County Flood Control District is taking to deal with the channel capacity. In public presentations Flood Control District spokesmen have offered vague and irresponsible threats that the Rose Bowl, the Pasadena Freeway and downstream communities will experience flooding if they don't get their way. Nor do they discuss the potential for dealing with floods other than a massive fleet of diesel trucks hauling sediment from the dam to local landfills.
