The Arroyo CicLAvia bike ride will tour the length of the urban Arroyo Seco River and join the main CicLAvia celebration, a (mostly) car-free day in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday.

"There has long been talk of a single, continuous and easily accessible bike path from Pasadena to downtown Los Angeles," says Jonathan Frame of the Arroyo Seco Foundation. "Arroyo CicLAvia will raise awareness and support for this potentially wonderful cycle way."

The ride starts at Hahamongna Watershed Park at 8 am Sunday. Bikers can also join at Brookside Park, the South Pasadena Nature Center, and the Lummis Home in northeast Los Angeles. For more information, visit bike.arroyoseco.org

The family-friendly ride is open to bikers of all skill levels. According to Arroyo CicLAvia, "The route from Pasadena to Los Angeles provides countless photo and video opportunities with some of the most beautiful backdrops in Southern California including the amazing San Gabriel Mountains, the Rose Bowl, the Colorado Street Bridge, Los Angeles skyline and much more."

“The dynamics of the Arroyo Seco bike way cannot be beat . . . it is the history, the nature, the wildlife and the dense urban roads” says Dorothy Wong of the Altadena Bike Club.

The downtown LA celebration will include music, performances, games, activities, and -- of course -- food trucks.
